I was coming here to say Amyl but they are at the top of the list! My god they are good!

Also Soul Glo. Perhaps more on hardcore side than what people are looking for here, but they are awesome.

Some great recommendations here! Thank you. I'm on team Gabbie here... IDLES > Distillers any day for me. Someone else mentioned Otoboke Beaver and I will second that. They are the most exciting band out there right now.

Australia has a stupid amount of good bands pouring out of it, outside of the more name-checked: Drunk Mums, Zombeaches, Capt Razz, Dumb Punts, Smooch...I'm rattling off just some of the first Melbourne bands that come to mind.

In the UK and Canada, High Vis and Home Front are hardcore (?) bands that aren't even making anything punk yet it still is.

Totally digging this mix. I like many things about punk. But what I like best is that female-fronted acts are a major part of the musical landscape, unlike metal or hard rock. Of course, I can’t listen to these acts without thinking of the godmother herself:

Joan Jett. 🖤🖤🖤

Thanks for the introductions.

Otoboke Beaver. Kickass band! All female out of Japan. I’ve watched their drummer Kahokiss Zildijian drumming video to (I checked your cellphone) 100 times!

I feel like I SHOULD like Amyl and the Sniffers and lord knows I've tried, but it just doesn't do anything for me and I can't put a finger on it.

They're all energy, no melody. Sue me, I need a sweet melody.

Bad Nerves are incredible! I would also highly recommend PET NEEDS. Their tracks Get On The Roof, Scratch Card and Tracy Emin’s Bed are all great places to start.

Panic Shack are a lot of fun and definitely don’t take themselves too seriously.

I think Dream Wife might also qualify as punk? Last year’s album Social Lubrication is definitely worth a listen and their new single Room 341 is out today.

dream wife are absolutely incredible and I loved social lubrication but I have to confess I would never think to classify them as punk

I may have already mentioned my inability to classify music properly 😂 Where would you put them?

Just subscribed because anyone who can name The Distillers “Coral Fang” AND who knows its awesomeness is someone whose music writing I can trust.
