Welcome to Lipps Service!

I’m Scott Lipps, your go-to music and fashion impresario, and favorite host of SPIN Presents Lipps Service.

We are beyond excited to bring Lipps Service to Substack. We want to expand our show for you guys, our beloved supporters, by bringing you even more artist interviews, special clips, exclusive Substack-only content, Q&A’s, early access, behind-the-scenes, invites to special events, and, of course, some more Lipps-Service-signature Top 5’s. And while you’re here, you can always let us know what more you’d like to see from the show, requests on who we should have on next, and what fan-submitted questions you want us to ask guests.

Why the paywall?

While you can still access Lipps Service interviews on all podcast streaming services and YouTube, the paywall here on Substack helps us make Lipps Service even bigger and better. It will mean the world to us if you support our show, and in turn, stay tuned for new and exciting content and opportunities, and more talk from the best in showbiz.

Get-to-know Lipps Service and Scott Lipps

Originally airing on Dash Radio out of LA, Lipps Service became a podcast in 2018, when I did my first interview with Albert Hammond Jr of The Strokes. Over the last six years, I’ve invited a wide array of musicians and pop culture figures to open up and talk with me about their careers, histories, personal lives, and art.

A little about me: I moved from Long Island to LA when I was 18 to pursue my dreams of becoming a rock drummer. Most people today still think I live in LA, as it is where I became fully embedded within the hair metal / rock ‘n’ roll scene of the mid-to-late ‘80s. I played drums for the band Black Cherry with Paul Black of LA Guns, had the crazy glam rock hairstyle, and regularly paraded up and down the Sunset Strip seeing some of the best gigs of that time. When it was time to cut my long, luscious locks, my cousin introduced me to the world of modeling, and I went on to start One Management, one of the then-leading modeling management agencies. Fast forward to today, I run The Rebellion Management, I play drums for my dear friend Courtney Love (at her beckoning call), and my devotion to music is bolstered by Lipps Service.

Through my wild rides in both music and modeling, I’ve met a lot of people. My social nature has granted me friends, opportunities, experiences, and loads of concert tickets. Lipps Service was born because so many of my friends would tell me, “Scott, you just know everyone! You should start a talk show!” So, that’s exactly what I did.

Not only do I love to talk, I am even more so allured by people’s life stories, how they got to where they are, and how people create their own art. That same allure is what ignited me to fly across the country and follow my own dreams. My passion for music is the beating heart of Lipps Service, and as all music geeks do, I will always love sitting down and talking about it.

This is a new beginning for Lipps Service, so join us along our journey with Substack!
