Jakob Nowell of Sublime on stepping into his father's legacy! sobriety! and the journey ahead!

Here's the full-length video of my interview with Sublime's new frontman.

In this episode, Scott sits down with Sublime frontman Jakob Nowell. Jakob details his journey from growing up in a legendary musical family — his father being Sublime’s iconic reggae-punk frontman, the late Bradley Nowell — to carving out his own career in the music world, through his bands LAW and Jakobs Castle. He also discusses how he was invited by the original members to front his father’s band, and talks about the new line-up’s first-ever performance at Coachella. Throughout the conversation, he offers several takes on what it's like to play his father’s iconic music. Jakob also discusses how he learned to play guitar, detailing the musical influences and childhood experiences that shaped his musicianship. Scott and Jakob also dive into the topic of sobriety, with Jakob sharing personal insights into his journey, and how it has impacted his life and music career. Finally, the episode ends with some of Jakob's top 5's — including his top 5 favorite Sublime songs and top 5 SoCal rock bands. Tune in for an inspiring and entertaining conversation, with a talented musician who’s following in his father's footsteps while forging his own path.
