BTS: My recording with Julian Casablancas of the Voidz and the Strokes

Here I am as we ready the studio. I always need at least 20 minutes to read through the intros and outros. I even have “Hi, I’m Scott Lipps” written down. The memory doesn’t get better with age folks, don’t let them fool you. :)

Going over some of the top 5 questions with Julian, who typically doesn’t do many interviews. We wanted to make sure he was ok with them and give him a heads-up, like I normally do for guests. We had a great vibe right away.

This is what I’m looking at when recording interviews, but I really don’t look at it much. It’s just for framing.

Clearly, you can see how many pages of notes I have. We do lots of research, but I usually have to self-edit on the fly. No one wants to sit through a 4-hour interview.
